Optimism Through Change

Optimism Through ChangeNecklace: Kunglers .

Recently Best of Second Life Inc and Miss Virtual World Academy had a change of the guard and a new owner/CEO, Reign Congrejo, stepped into the role of former owner Frolic Mills. Huge transitional changes are difficult enough in a real world setting where everything is transparent, but in a virtual world, where information is filtered down through the community until it is a decimated version of its original content, transitions can be down-right brutal. There is one thing I have learned in my lifetime, not only are things seldom as fatal and flawed as they seem, but no one ever gets first hand knowledge through the grapevine. Did you ever play that telephone game in elementary school? YIKES!

The thing is, there have been a lot of rumors to the bad, from various outlets and being a curious sort, I did the only thing I could do, I am involved with both groups afterall, I wrote a notecard stating my concerns. There HAS been a lot of people shuffling in the organization, which is natural when any business undergoes management changes, but was it all as nefarious as the rumors implied? Within hours, I not only got a response, but I received a response from the person in charge herself. And Reign made a comment that sticks with me, and I think I should pass it on. She said, and I agree, that “when they (BOSL) have been contacting individuals, the individuals haven’t been responding back, and when people don’t respond back, what else are they supposed to do but remove or move them?” This is true of any business we pursue in life, if you’re going to be “in” be all in. Because, unfortunately, no one is so special they can’t be replaced. I wish I were, but dang it all, nope, I’m not. Well maybe ‘cept to a few loved ones.

Optimism Through ChangeThese kick arse nails from Moondance Boutique but don’t worry, I only lit my gown on fire one time. Luckily I had a copy.

The point? In indecisive times, don’t base your opinions on rumor, base it on facts. If you don’t know them, get them, knowledge truly is power. And knowledge in times of ambiguity arms us with the weapons to make smart decisions concerning our own future. Slow down, relax, close your mouth, open you ears and be patient. Well, that just what my mum always tells me anyway. I think a Jack Layton quote fits this perfectly, ” My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.” Just a little something to think about on this high gravity Monday.

  1. One thing I’ve learned that applies to both SL and RL is that in light of any other information, people will construct an explanation that applies worst possible set of circumstances for them personally to explain any behaviour.
The only remedy – and it is a meagre one at that – is to provide as much information as possible in the hope that people consider it sufficient.

  2. Thank you Cao for posting this, Reign is a dear friend of mine long before she acquired BOSL. She is a professional in all ways and I deeply respect and admire her in many of the same ways as I do you. Someday when I grow up I want to be just like Reign and Caoimhe. I dont think Reign would remove anyone from anything without a good reason .. and not responding to messages is a good reason. I can only guess that there is alot of work to be done, things that can not wait for too long, and a non response … to me would mean a person is no longer interested in doing what needs to be done … I would have replaced the people as well . Thank you again for clearing things up, for people that may not know her.

  3. Hey there My lil Friend Cao. I also thank you for posting this. I was going to do something similar after speaking to one of those that was let go. Reign is my sister, But I really have nothing to do with BOSL I can only say that Reign is kind, open and respectful of others, but she is also a business woman and change always comes with a few seemingly harsh adjustments. I am sure that if those that did not respond in time want to take it up with her she will listen and make the best move for all. Even though Frolic steered his ship one way does not mean someone else should do the same. The man said himself don’t try to be me, others have and failed. Bottom line, it is not like BOSL could not use some tweaking and at the end of the day it IS a business. Love you, now off to grab those nails …Kisses hugs and tight squeezes. The seas always calm down after a storm

    1. exactly! And from what I’ve seen she is moving very quickly to get everything in its proper place to run the business more efficiently. Be careful with those nails, don’t wear polyester or rayon near them! Love you girly-cue! ❤

  4. I have no connection to any of these personalities, though having had a personal experience in RL when I took over the company I work for. It’s unfortunate, though you do quickly learn who is going to be a team player or not. I had to let go of a long standing employee who was being non-responsive. It wasn’t popular, but at the end of the day you have a business to run and any effective business requires strong leadership that is going to take action, sometimes despite its popularity.

    1. yes its not. I have a saying in these situations “help me, help you..” People just expect everything to be done for them and it’s strange to me. If you want to be a part, well, take part.. Thanks Alexa ❤

I'm done inconveniencing electrons, any thoughts? Come on, you know you have 'em, post them up here.
