Winter’s Harsh Stirring

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”  ~ Lewis Carroll

The cool, fresh air of autumn days
begins to chill from lack of rays
and forms a storm of blowing snow
that sets the land upon a glaze

The storm begins to pass and quell
while all of life is forced to dwell
in snowy land with longer nights
that mark the start of winter’s spell
Snowshoe rabbits grow white fur
while mice and voles always prefer
to tunnel through snow and make their homes
as foxes hunt they do not stir

A squirrel climbs its tree to enter
and eats within its hollow center
while light that shines upon the snow
sparkles with all the magic of winter ~Matt Kaiser

      1. It’s way better now, though a little breezy. At least I can take the dog for a walk and reasonably demand that the kids go outside every now and then.

I'm done inconveniencing electrons, any thoughts? Come on, you know you have 'em, post them up here.
