I am often so humbled by my smallness in this universe. Do you ever feel that way? Often we are so busy in our lives rushing and going and then coming back again that we don’t take the moment to lay back and just stare at the vastness of the stars in the skies. Carl Sagan said it best when he said, “Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” Yet we so oft choose to believe we are the center of the universe, a singular thought that tends to limit our full possibility, declining our potential. Well, I don’t reckon I know how I got here from the quote up there, but, well, it’s written so there it is. Perhaps it’s just something to ponder whilst taking out the trash today.

I think you captured the sentiment precisely. We are specks. If everyone would think of themselves as a particle of sand on the beach and remember that without the other grains they would be washed away into obscurity maybe the world would be a more peaceful place.
