On October 6th, 2012, we are starting a new round, featuring creatively minded designers, to you, our creatively minded consumer’s. Welcome to the Couturier’s Dock! We are Salimar Art SIM and it’s time to recycle this fun event and the inventory will disappear quickly and once the current inventory is gone, it is gone. We do not refill stock so don’t miss out on some of the incredible finds at the Couturier’s Dock. We purposely kept our designer’s list limited to some of the designers we feel have niched their own genre of fashion so the items available to you will be unique, limited to lots of 35 units, will be affordable at a price range of 50 to 500 Lindens (50% off the main store price) and we hope what you find will be a treasured addition to your Second Life inventory. It seems Second Life is a lot emptier these days. Everyone is off celebrating holidays and things, enjoying the weather, having fun. I miss my facebook, flickr friends and blog friends the most, I think. Inworld most people ignore me and let me go about my hermit ways, but here, and on Facebook and flickr, people keep up with me a little bit more, make me accountable for my where abouts, so when friends wander off from these places, I truly miss them. I’ve always wondered if the inhabitants of the southern hemisphere celebrate their “summer” in winter so they can be gone when we are, or do they celebrate it the normal way, in their weathers-pheric summer? I’d love to know! So with the summer half over, I think of poor Otis Redding, “sitting on a dock of the bay” just wasting time. I presume he watched a few sunsets over there in California, wishing someone, would buy his album, would enjoy his dream. A Georgia boy on the cusp of making it big, but tragically, he died in a plane crash before showing his full potential. And as I ramble on, (oh wait, I will save Led Zepplin for another day) I think the point is, in life, sadly, we all have deadlines. And for those sitting on some dock on some bay, wasting time, the third round of the The Couturier’s Dock will close July 15th, so if you haven’t yet purchased your half off limited quantity items, you better. Quite a few are already closed, but some remain.

As I read my most recent Vogue magazine I was surprised they were giving a “sneak peek” of the Fall styles, but I suppose Fall is just around the corner for most of us. At this rounds Couturier’s Dock, [[LD]] Major has also chosen to give us a sneaky peek of their Fall line and it is, frankly sublime. I purchased the “Stingray Chic” item and I was amazed when I unboxed the item, it not only includes the “nubby” black jacket with white accents, it includes the matching purse and pumps. By adding the Mon Tissu “westbury” skirt, Mandala jewelry, Hair from Tuty’s and a flower I found in inventory and colored red, I am thinking I am looking forward to Fall this year! It truly is a gorgeous jacket; I’d hate to see anyone miss out on this deal, because the piece is very multi-functional and dresses up or down but is fitted which always adds elegance.

My second outfit is Angels and Demons Creations (AD Creations) “Belly Mask.” I just love the originality and creativeness of Aliza Karu’s outfits! And for all you styling mavens out there, *Big Hint*, outfits like the ones from Aliza are excellent for using parts of for intense styling challenges between multiple designers. They always tend to work and play well with others and are definitely “outside the box” styling forward. I can think of at least five uses each for just the top, collar and head piece, so if you have looming challenges ahead, i.e. MVW competition, it might be a good time to create what I have labeled in inventory as a “really cool stuff” folder containing these outfits. All that was added to this look was the [GOS] boots and a couple of bracelets from Rozoregalia.

Today I am going to show a new item from one of my favorite Second Life designers, she is not my favorite because I am her manager, she is my favorite because I love her like family. I am drawn so completely to creative thinker’s, they inspire me and Mila Tatham of *SoliDea FoliEs* is very inspirational, not only to myself but to many like minded artists/models. Since I typically do these blogs in pairs, instead of showing something from the newer line, I think I’ve done pictures of most everything, I fell back to a comfortable favorite.

I just love Mila’s “Noir” series and still it is one of my faves. The line always made me feel like some dark Noir 17th century figure, richly textured in black satins and feathers, the dark colors emphasizing the paleness of skin. I felt somehow I should be walking quietly along a darkened cobblestone street, being chased by the whispering wind. This dark on pale haute couture is a look, I think, that should be at least a small part of every models portfolio. Even if just a picture or two. It takes the service-able model to a greater depth, sort of a separation of the Every-Day-Wear model from the Couture Runway model. So explore this area if you are so inclined, you can make some dramatic works of art with it.

This second *SoliDea FoliEs* outfit is the new “Estro” created for supermodel Ellendir Khandar during her bid for Miss Mundo Virtual. It is a high-impact and gorgeously feminine outfit with its body wrapping flowers, brightly shimmering pearls and feathers! Yes! I said feathers! There is no need to walk into a crowded room and make a lot of noise to be noticed. In this gorgeous offering from *SoliDea FoliEs* in the silence that fills the room as you enter it, all that will be necessary is the sound of the gently fluttering feathers that move sensually about you as you walk.

Today I am showing two of the jewelry “steals” we have available, the first is offered by Blackliquid and is the sublimely chic “Orbital Platinum and Iron” necklace and bracelet. This jewelry is perfect for futuristic and more casual styles, I’ve teamed it here with a silver jacket and silver sequin shorts from Leezu!. Upscale, chic and just fab!

Our second set if the “Eclipse” set, a traditional casual elegant set being sold by Reve Jewelry. The gold and sapphire jewelry dresses up or down depending on your mood and is perfect for those times you need an accessory that doesn’t make a fuss or detract from the focus of your outfit. I personally love this set with a nice sleeveless sundress because I love the heavy gold chain about the neck.

I think one of the things I enjoy about RiRi Bazar of H.M.A.E.M. (that would be “Hate Me and Eat Me”) is she never looks at life in black and white. She imagines with her mind throttled wide open and always comes up with something previously unseen. She isn’t afraid of life and often I think she, in some way, is making life, mine at least, that much happier a place because all she makes is filled with humor and a bit of magical whimsy. The other thing I enjoy, is as a person whose favorite thing to do is create my own style, her pieces are often perfect for a focal point to create around. That is my favorite way to style. To find one piece (and in creative styling, its seldom the clothes I style around), I find really interesting, put it on while naked, and then just build around the item. Sometimes, ok oft, I run amok and have to start over from the beginning, but seldom, and never with H.M.A.E.M., have I had to abandon the original item.

Today I am wearing H.M.A.E.M.’s design created for the first round of The Couturier’s Dock, the “Freedom” hat. The purpose of the event is to inspire us to mix and match and create among designer’s what is uniquely our own. I personally love using birdcages in my styling, and so must others, remember all the “birdcage” skirts making the rounds a few months ago? They resembled something the real life designer Valentino would make. To me, these cages symbolize us, as models, pretty little peacocks, caged by fashion. But aesthetically, as an element of fashion, and especially as a focal piece, I just adore the whimsical nature of them. For this simple “quick style” I added the “Birdcage” earrings and ring created by Yula Finesmith of FINESMITH jewelry, who happens to be another of the designer’s contributing to this event. This is not the item she will have at the opening, she has kept her design under wraps for Tuesday’s unveiling, but I’ve yet to be disappointed in anything she has made. The style, simple, to the point, and hopefully has brought a little bit of a smile to your day.
