I Won’t Stand for Bullying

If you have followed my blog for a while you know I have some causes that are always very important to me, Relay for Life, Wigs for Kids, Stop the Violence, and quite frequently, the topic of bullying. Boy have I covered that one often enough. One only has to watch the news to know bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes and my fave new pulpit, on the Internet. February 26, 2014 is Pink Shirt Day. Pink Shirt Day is a grassroots celebration brought on by caring. Two highschool students decided positive changed started with them, so they stood up. Another student in their class was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school, but instead of turning their heads they did the most remarkable, bravest thing possible. They not only showed up at school in pink shirts, they recruited as many of their friends they could reach to participate with them. Who would we be, as adults, to turn our backs? I mean, I suppose we could run off to whatever event is cool right now, or how about this? Let’s save a few of those wasted Lindens to stand with those who decided to exact change for the good. Poulet Koenkamp of Purple Moon has supplied the pink T-shirts with one stipulation, she requests you pay 10L’s for it, or more if you are willing. (I paid more) The Lindens won’t be used by Poulet, she is donating the proceeds from Pink Shirt Day activities & t-shirt sales to the benefit of the CKNW Orphans’ Fund (https://www.cknworphansfund.com/ ) in support of Boys & Girls Clubs Anti-Bullying programs.
